Pascal Grandmaison
B.C. Binning Gallery
The Contemporary Art Gallery is pleased to present an exhibition of the work of Pascal Grandmaison. Grandmaison is an emerging Montreal artist whose video projections and photographs combine interests in conceptualism with commercial trends in rock video and advertising. He will showcase two new works, Running (2003) and Manner (2003). Both document durational activity, in this instance its aftermath and effects. Manner is a suite of photographs of drum skins which exhibit the abuse of hours of service. The video Running shows a foot, its rhythmic motion almost imperceptibly hinting at past activity. With these two works, Grandmaison's articulation of physical activity takes the form of nuanced documents of its effects and aftermath.
